What is Asian Help Services?

Asian Help Services (AHS) was established in 1986 as a not-for-profit nonsectarian organization by the United Methodist Church Metropolitan Ministries. AHS assists immigrants, refugees, business people, students, and visitors and their families from Asia to Central Indiana.

Asian in Indiana

The Asian population has greatly increased in the last five years. According to the U.S. Census Bureau Report, there are more than 103,000 people of Asian descent living in Indiana, and 31,240 Asians in the Indianapolis area. Recently arrived Asians come with their hopes, dreams, and great ambitions, but as they strive to establish themselves, they feel intimidated by the language and cultural barriers.
